UD Women's Hoops Looks to Keep Confidence at Schreiner this Weekend

KERRVILLE, Texas - The University of Dallas women's basketball team continues its schedule with a pair of road games against Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) opponent Schreiner University.

The Crusaders (2-2, 2-2 SCAC) are looking to keep their momentum from last weekend, as they picked up consecutive conference victories for the first time since 2015-16. UD dispatched Centenary College, 70-63, on Friday night and then earned a huge 68-45 win in the afternoon matchup the next day.

Schreiner (4-0, 4-0 SCAC) will be a tough challenge as it remains one-of-two unbeaten teams with four wins. Austin College, who has been the only other UD opponent this season, is the other. The Mountaineers were off last weekend and have defeated Southwestern University and Centenary for their wins.

Game time in Kerrville, Texas, will be at 5 p.m. Feb. 5 and 1 p.m. Feb 6. Access to livestats and free livestream will be posted on the basketball schedule/results page. All SCAC events remain closed to spectators at this time.

NOTABLES

Camille Fowler (Helotes, Texas) was the engine driving the winning train last weekend, as her performance netter her SCAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week. The freshmen averaged 18.5 points and collected six steals (five in Saturday's win). Most of the shooting damage was behind the three-point arc at 61.5 percent with four-per-game.

Speaking of three-pointers, did you know that Dallas leads the conference in made three's with 44 and the highest percentage at a 37-clip?

A trio of Crusaders are averaging double-digits in scoring featuring Fowler (12.6), Amber Turner (Rogers, Ark.), and Alyssa Sullivan (Wylie, Texas). Turner has reached double-digits in scoring five-of-six games and in the past four at home. Her three-point field goal percentage of 57.1 is ranked third in the SCAC.

Schreiner is led by Sydney Williams with 11.5 rebounds a contest. This includes a 17-rebound performance in the home opener against Centenary. She has one double-double but has been half-the-way there in either points or rebounds in the previous games.

Zahra Cross and Miranda Vallejo are the top offensive threats with 12.8 points and 10.0 points, respectively.
