UD Women's Basketball Prepares to Begin Season this Friday, Saturday at Austin College

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's basketball team is looking to compete in 2021 with a conference-only scheduling model, playing 12 games. The Crusaders will open the abbreviated campaign on January 15 at Austin College. They will play back-to-back days on Friday and Saturday over a seven-week stretch that concludes on Feb. 26-27.

The Crusaders (3-22, 1-17 SCAC) feature a young roster that includes 10 newcomers, which nine are true freshmen. Beyonce Perry (Lake Jackson, Texas) returns and earned a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) All-Conference Honorable Mention award. Alissa Dutton (Houston, Texas) is the other returner that played with last year's team. Amber Turner (Rogers, Ark.) is the veteran of the group, taking graduate classes at UD after playing at Hendrix College, where second-year head coach Bri Calver was an assistant prior to arriving in Irving.

UD's remaining newcomers include: Anika Herron (Coppell, Texas), Jasmyn Franklin (Waco, Texas), Madeline Stephens (Houston, Texas), Alyssa Sullivan (Wylie, Texas), Ivy Prater (Pflugerville, Texas), Raylee Minich (Crowley, Texas), Camille Fowler (Helotes, Texas), Kaycie Willis (Selma, Texas), and Imani Hardin (Helotes, Texas).

After the Crusaders take on the 2020 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Tournament Champions in Sherman on the 15th and 16th, they will be home the next two weekends. UD will host University of St. Thomas on Jan. 22nd and 23rd. The month concludes with Centenary College on the 29th and 30th.

Dallas goes to Schreiner University on February 5th and 6th and then finishes the home portion of the schedule on Feb. 12th and 13th versus Southwestern University. After a bye week, the Crusaders embark on the road to Colorado College on Feb. 26th and 27th.

The SCAC Tournament is scheduled to be at Austin College from Thursday, March 4th to Saturday, March 6th. For the first time since the SCAC reinstated a postseason conference basketball tournament in 2003, the event will be split up.

All UD home contests are currently slated to start at 5 p.m. on Friday dates and 1 p.m. on Saturday dates. No spectators will be allowed in the Maher Center for contests, but games will be broadcasted on College TV Ticket.
