UD Women's Basketball Concludes 2019-20 Season at Centenary

SHREVEPORT, La. – The University of Dallas women's basketball team concluded its regular season on Saturday in a 73-51 setback at Centenary College. The Crusaders (3-22, 1-17 SCAC) fell behind 21-10 in the first quarter and could not recover going forward. Centenary (2-23, 2-16 SCAC) shot 46.6 percent from the floor and used a 46-25 advantage on the rebounds to claim the victory and regular season split on Dallas.

Beyonce Perry (Lake Jackson, Texas) and Madi Horne (Paradise, Texas) capped their freshmen campaigns by leading the Crusaders with 17 points apiece to lead the Crusaders offense in this game. This included Horne going 7-8 at the free throw line.

A 10-0 run started the game favoring the Ladies before Perry hit the first field goal for UD's points five and a half minutes in. Horne had a basket cut the score to 14-8 with 2:15 left, but the Ladies went on a 7-2 run to close the quarter.

A 17-12 edge in the second quarter stretched the lead to 38-22 at the break. Perry had netted a field goal with around two minutes remaining in the stanza to make it a 10-point margin (32-22), but Destini Powell drained one-of-six Centenary trifectas to widen the gap.

Centenary outscored UD 19-16 in the third quarter with the scoring deficit never changing by any significant amount. Horne did put together five points two minutes in the fourth quarter to make it a 63-44 game, but the Ladies made the next eight points and Dallas went scoreless for five minutes.

She also dished half of the team's six assists. Perry, Jules Oliveti (Southlake, Texas), and Alex Parkey (Henrietta, Texas) tied team-highs for rebounds with five.

Perry netted 41 points on this final weekend road trip for Dallas.

The Ladies were led by Bre Frierson, who notched a double-double with 21 points (9-13 FG) and 12 boards. Deunya Small and Essa Badon chipped in 13 and 11 points, respectively. Centenary did commit 18 turnovers compared to just 10 by UD.
