Crusaders go 0-2 on Conference Road Trip this Weekend

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Dallas dropped Friday's game to No. 14 Trinity University 94-36. Big quarters in the first half allowed the top-15 ranked opponent a comfortable lead at the break, 49-14, and the Tigers (17-3, 12-1 SCAC) cruised to victory.

Dallas (3-17, 1-12 SCAC) did outscore the opposition 11-9 in the final 10 minutes. The Crusaders shot 22.9 percent from the field with four made treys and a 10-14 effort at the free throw line. The team grabbed 32 rebounds with 13 coming from the offensive glass.

Beyonce Perry (Lake Jackson, Texas) and Madi Horne (Paradise, Texas) led the team with nine points each. Gracie Williams (Midwest City, Okla.) followed with seven points, and Vanessa Diaz (San Antonio, Texas) tossed in six. Perry had a team-high six rebounds.

The Tigers shot 47 percent (39-83) overall from the floor with 10 trifectas. They grabbed 54 rebounds with 28 offensive boards. TU swiped 21 steals and dished 23 assists, led by Jordan Rudd (6) and Hailey Coleman (5). Offensively, Abby Holland scored 18 points for a game-high, while Ashlyn Milton followed with 16. Coleman notched a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards. Annie Wise etched nine points and hauled down 10 rebounds, which matched Kelly Simmons for that amount and completed the trio in double-digits for that column.

KERRVILLE, Texas – It was another slow start for the Crusaders with a 23-1 deficit after one quarter that led to a road loss at Schreiner University on Saturday. Dallas (3-18, 1-13 SCAC) scored 10 points in the next three quarters and outdid the Mountaineers (11-11, 9-5 SCAC) by three in the second frame, but a 44.3 percent to 16.7 percent shooting difference was too much to overcome.

Leading UD offensively was Williams with eight points, followed by Horne and Perry with six apiece. Panda Houseworth (Farmersville, Texas) went 38 minutes and tossed in all five of her points from the free throw line. UD got 41 rebounds with Alissa Dutton (Houston, Texas) and Alex Parkey (Henrietta, Texas) collecting nine and eight, respectively. Dallas did force 12 of Schreiners' 18 turnovers with 12 steals. Houseworth and Perry made three each.

The Mountaineers slumped at the three-point line (2-9) and free throw stripe (11-22) but did most of their damage in the paint with 42 points there and then 27 points off turnovers. A quartet of players reached double figures led by Josline Hernandez with 14, Yasmine Arogunjo with 13, and Sydney Williams and Gabby Ivarra with 10. Arogunjo went for a double-double off the bench with 10 rebounds. Ivarra forced five steals. The Schreiner reserves chipped in 21 points.
