FIRST TIP

The University of Dallas women's basketball team begins the 2019-20 season on Tuesday, November 12, versus LeTourneau University at the Maher Center. The game tips-off at 6 p.m. and is marked as the season opener for both programs.


UD NOTES

- Bri Calver enters her first season as the head coach for Dallas. She arrives from Hendrix College after serving as an assistant coach for three seasons. Calver is the 16th head coach for UD.

- Dallas returns six players from last year's roster, including three with at least 19 appearances. This trio is made up by Gracie Williams (Midwest City, Okla.), Vanessa Diaz (San Antonio, Texas), and Jules Oliveti (Southlake, Texas).

- Diaz led the Crusaders with 12.9 points-per-game and 8.2 rebounds-per-game.

- Panda Houseworth (maiden name Green) (Farmersville, Texas) returns after playing in four games her junior season. She led the team in assists with 94 in 2017-18.

- The Crusaders welcome four freshmen to the squad: Beyonce Perry (Lake Jackson, Texas), Alissa Dutton (Houston, Texas), Madi Horne (Paradise, Texas), and Rhyan Colbert (McKinney, Texas).

- LeTourneau University posted a 6-19 record in 2018-19, which included a 3-13 mark in the American Southwest Conference (ASC).

- The YellowJackets fell 91-61 in an exhibition at NCAA Division I Northwestern State University last Tuesday.

- Bailey Lightfoot and Flora Akingbade were the top scorers with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

- LETU was picked fifth out of sixth in the ASC East Division with 52 points.

- Whitfield, Vanessa Cruz, and Akingbade were named to the ASC Women's Basketball Preseason Watch List.
