Schreiner rolls by Crusaders Friday
IRVING, Texas – A steady offensive Schreiner team was too much for the University of Dallas women's basketball team on Friday evening at the Maher Center. Dallas (9-8, 1-5 SCAC) fell for the third time in a row in conference at home, as the Mountaineers (5-11, 3-2 SCAC) pulled away 75-51 thanks to 50.9 percent shooting from the field.

(Individual Notes)
- Michelle DeCoud (Monument, Colo.) led the Crusaders with 16 points and was 7-for-13 shooting from the field. This was the forward's 8th consecutive game in double figures scoring and she has achieved the feat in nine-of-10 contests.
- The forward posted three blocks to claim sole possession of the program individual season record at 47. DeCoud tied Helen Onyenso (Oak Park, Ill.) with six rebounds to lead the squad.
- Caitlyn Worry (Lumberton, Texas) tossed in 12 points, all from three-point land. This is the third game this season and second straight league game to post a career-high four treys.
- In a quartet of her double figure games this season, three have been those with four three-pointers drained.
- Holly Tonry (Seattle, Wash.) dished seven assists in her 3rd straight SCAC matchup. She has surpassed at least five dimes in just as many games and has surpassed seven assists in eight contests.
- Schreiner reflected four players in double-digits with Sabriyyah Fennell leading at 17 points. Codi Simmons produced 15 points off the bench. Jordyn Villa and Christonna Jones each added 11.
- Villa (5), Jones (4), and Fennel (3) combined for 13 of the 17 assists compiled. Villa swiped four steals and Dyamond Puebla garnered seven boards for a team-high.

- Dallas shot 34.7 percent from the field, but were identical with the Mountaineers in three-pointers (7-20). Both squads sank 10 free throws with Dallas having one extra attempt at 21.
- Schreiner won the boards 36-27.
- Dallas was forced into 23 turnovers and committed 17. The guests had a 30-16 edge in points off turnovers. The Mountaineers also enjoyed 34-16 difference in points in the paint and 12-5 margin on fastbreak points.
- Schreiner had 13 steals compared to eight for the Crusaders. DeCoud led the home team with three.
HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a difficult night for the Crusaders to find much successful scoring in the first and third quarters. Down 5-0, Worry made her first trey of the night to get UD on the board with almost four minutes ticked off. Another three by Worry around the midway point of the quarter cut a seven-point deficit to 10-6 after Cassandra Aleman and Fennell had put a three-pointer and layup, respectively between the two UD scores. The first nine points occurred on a trio of field goals by the Navy and White. Celsi Caraway (Arlington, Texas) sank the other trifecta to nip thins at 12-9 with 4:11.
Schreiner went back up by as many as eight and closed the frame by that margin at 19-11. Fennell ended the first on a jump shot and would start the next stanza on another to make it a double-digit margin for the first time of the game. Dallas scored three points to cut it to seven with 7:31 left. A cold spell on both sides happened over the next three minutes. SU's Simmons made a layup at 4:20 to count the next score. That started her personal streak of five points with a three-pointer to follow at three and half minutes prior to break and a 12-point edge.
Dallas got a trifecta from Lindsey Gendron (Houston, Texas) in response and that was part of a 7-0 run to end the last three minutes. A DeCoud jumper with just above a minute rounded out the scoring and a 26-21 halftime deficit.
The Crusaders were not able to slow Schreiner in the second half, being outscored 49-30 during that span. This included a 28-16 fourth quarter, where the Mountaineers made 11-of-12 (91.7%) from the floor.
The Mountaineers scored two field goals in four minutes, and that was able to extend the lead to nine as Dallas didn't find any points or a field goal until a Caraway layup under five minutes gone by in the third quarter. Kendra Brown propelled the Maroon and White back to a 10-point lead (35-25) with a three-pointer. Fennell went back-to-back for Schreiner on threes, and UD's Worry tried to keep the home team near the same gap on two treys of her own on the next two scores for Dallas. Her first one cut things into single-digits a final time in the game at 38-29 with 2:27. Simmons completed a trio of Schreiner made trifectas and then added a jumper before Worry drained her fourth trey and made it 43-32 with 1:07.
In the fourth quarter, Schreiner's lead ballooned and the largest lead of the game was the final score at 24.
