Lady Crusaders roll in First SCAC Win on Friday against Colorado College

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's basketball team (5-8, 1-3 SCAC) won consecutive games for the second time this season, and claimed its first conference victory of the campaign in a 69-46 final on Friday night. Dallas would defeat Colorado College (2-14, 1-4 SCAC) to extend its winning streak to seven in head-to-head matchups against the opponent.

The Lady Crusaders utilized a pair of 21-point quarters to build a 27-point advantage at halftime, and would settle for their second-straight double-digit triumph in the past three days. It was the second game in a row UD boasted matching totals above 20 points in both frames of the opening stanza to gain early control of the contest. In Wednesday's win over Dallas Christian College, the Navy and White posted 22 points in the first and second quarters.

Both squads traded baskets within the first two minutes out of the tip, but the home team would push the momentum to a 19-2 advantage on the strength of 17 unanswered points. During this run, the Tigers were held scoreless for just over seven minutes. Katie Wirth's jumper for CC ended the drought and Danielle Davis would split at the free throw line to round out a 21-5 first quarter favoring Dallas. It was the third lowest scoring quarter that the Lady Crusaders held the opposition to this year since the new format. It was the sixth frame overall this season UD kept an opponent in single-digits.

Dallas kept the pressure going with a 13-3 scoring span through the halfway juncture of the second quarter to build a 35-8 lead on the board. The Navy and White would carry a 42-17 advantage into the locker room. It was the second-highest scoring output by UD in the first 20 minutes this season, and widest scoring difference during that span this year.

Still, the third frame proved to be the Lady Crusaders highest tally on the scoreboard of the evening with a 22-9 advantage. At one moment, Dallas boasted its greatest lead of the game by 40 (64-24) on a field goal by junior Caitlyn Worry (Lumberton, Texas) with 35 seconds.

Colorado College would have its best offensive quarter of the contest in the fourth, outdoing the Lady Crusaders 20-5 over that stretch. However, Dallas had secured the SCAC win and remained in front by double-digits.
