Michelle DeCoud Headlines All-SCAC winners for Women's Basketball

IRVING, Texas – The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) announced the 2014-15 All-SCAC Women's Basketball Selections, and four members of the University of Dallas squad claimed honors among the league.

Headlining the quartet of players was freshman Michelle DeCoud by receiving SCAC Newcomer-of-the-Year. The forward from Monument, Colorado, also was named to the All-SCAC Second Team for Dallas.

DeCoud led the team in rebounding by pulling down 205 rebounds, and was also third in the league with 7.9 rebounds a contest. She led all first-year players in scoring with 10.8 ppg and ranked third on the squad with that mark.

UD has had a player notch the Newcomer-of-the-Year for consecutive seasons, as sophomore Holly Tonry (Seattle, Wash.) claimed the honor in 2013-14.

Making the All-SCAC Third Team were seniors Marleyna Bustamante (Donna, Texas) and Brooke Hagemann (Oklahoma City, Okla.). Bustamante, who was selected for the second-straight year in a row to the third team, produced a team-high 11.9 points-per-game (ppg), and was the team leader in steals with 56.

Hagemann was right behind in each category averaging 11.7 points and snatching 48 steals. It was the first All-SCAC selection for the senior forward.

The duo each clinched major marks in their respective careers this campaign; surpassing the 1,000 point career mark within a week of each other.

Bustamante shattered the total with a 19 point outing at Southwestern University on Jan. 30. She ends her four-years at Dallas ranked 8th for the women's basketball program with 1,123.

Her teammate, Hagemann, achieved the feat on Feb. 4 versus Centenary College of Louisiana with 20. She ranks 10th all-time in the program with 1,059 in her career.

Receiving All-SCAC Honorable Mention was sophomore Sammi Tso (Las Vegas, Nev.). The point guard led the team with 70 assists and came up with 35 steals while averaging 8.7 points. However, Tso did crack double figures in six of the last seven games to average a 13.7 clip.

Dallas went 14-12 overall this year and were 7-7 within the conference.
