Dallas struggles at Trinity on Saturday

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Dallas women's basketball team (13-10, 6-7 SCAC) were handed its second loss in as many days at Trinity University (19-5, 10-3 SCAC) on Saturday. TU improves to 2-0 versus the Navy and White after falling at both venues this season.

It was a difficult shooting night for UD, who fell to 6-6 on the road and have taken setbacks in four of the past five away from Maher Athletics Center. The Lady Crusaders would post a season-low 25.5-percent and were limited to 39 points in the results, which also was fewest this campaign.

A 13-0 run opened the afternoon for the Tigers. Senior Chelsea Cole (Mission, Texas) got Dallas on the board with a trifecta with 14:34 minutes until the break. It would be a long time as the momentum never faded for the home squad.

At halftime, the Navy and White trailed 47-19, with another season-low reflecting the amount of point posted in any stanza. It would be a bizarre second half as both squads combined for 39 altogether. The road team outscored TU 20-19.

Trinity connected on 37.7-percent from the field and outrebounded the Lady Crusaders 43-37. UD turned the ball over 22 times compared to the Tigers recording eight miscues. Trinity also enjoyed 40 points coming from the bench.

A pair of players led Dallas in scoring with nine points apiece. The post playing duo, sophomore Seana Stoia (Tulsa, Okla.) and freshman Michelle DeCoud (Monument, Colo.), were able to compile 18 points combined and DeCoud led the rebounding for the team by matching her point-total with nine as well.

Sophomore Sammi Tso (Las Vegas, Nev.) added six points and dished out three assists.

Trinity only had Anecia Richardson produced a double figure scoring game with 10 points. It was a team effort for the Maroon and White as 13 players marked the scoring column.
