Dallas streak Snapped after cold Second half at Schreiner

KERRVILLE, Texas - The University of Dallas women's basketball team (13-9, 6-6 SCAC) fell 72-65 at Schreiner University (10-12, 8-4 SCAC) on Friday night. Dallas couldn't halt a 48-point scoring output for the opposition as SU completed the season series sweep. The setback also ended a three-game winning streak for the Lady Crusaders.

Dallas opened with a slight edge, and pushed things to as many as seven (16-9) with about six minutes ticked past in the opening stanza. UD would watch its opponents knot things with seven unanswered over the next several possessions.

At 11:08 minutes remaining until halftime, the Navy and White produced a 19-8 streak to build match that run by its edge amount heading into the break.

In the first portion of the second frame, a cold shooting spelled trouble for the road team as UD managed eight points through the first nine and a half minutes. Sophomore Sammi Tso (Las Vegas, Nev.) finally got Dallas to eclipse the double-digit mark in the half with a trifecta.

Despite the trouble scoring, Schreiner remained behind by a pair and had only regained the advantage by one at the time. Kelsie Jackson for the Mountaineers turned the momentum for her squad on an old-fashioned three-point play to knot things 49-all with 8:23.

After trading a pair of points, Jackson would rattle off the next eight points for the Maroon and White to claim its final lead of the evening. The game-high scorer would tab two of those three baskets from beyond the three-point arc. She connected on five-of-nine from downtown.

UD would only complete three field goals after Tso's trifecta with 9:43 remaining in the affair. Two of those baskets were hit by freshman Michelle DeCoud (Monument, Colo.), who had a team-high 21 points.

Tso found the bottom of the net in trey attempts four times, and the point guard tallied 17 points to rank second-highest on UD in the game. Sophomore Seana Stoia (Tulsa, Okal.) added 10 to round out the trio of double-digit scorers and claimed a team-high eight rebounds.

Jackson for Schreiner just missed a double-double with 30 points and nine boards. Sabriyyah Fennell chipped in 12 for SU.
