Women's Basketball falls to Texas Lutheran

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's basketball team dropped an 89-76 (10-6, 4-3 SCAC) decision on Saturday afternoon versus Texas Lutheran University (9-8, 4-3 SCAC). The setback ends a three-game winning streak and was the highest amount of points allowed by the Navy and White on the campaign.

Dallas could not halt the Bulldogs' offense, who posted a 53.6-percent shooting clip in the opening stanza. From the tip-off, the Lady Crusaders were down by six, with the first trio of possessions resulting in a layup for the Black and Gold. A few moments later, the road squad doubled that total and were up 12-2 just under four and a half minutes into the affair.

After pulling within six points a handful of times, UD would be stymied by the break trailing 42-25. The Lady Crusaders managed to connect on 25.7-percent from the floor in the frame, and 30-percent behind the arc.

In the second half, Dallas would match a season most 51 points during a 20-minute block of a game, but it wouldn't be enough as the home team remained in a double-digit deficit. The largest lead for TLU was 23 on a pair of occasions. The Bulldogs shot 48.3-percent from the field, but the dagger was a sizzling 7-of-9 from the three-point line for a 77.8 shooting percentage.

Senior Marleyna Bustamante (Donna, Texas) eclipsed the 20-point mark the first time this season as the guard claimed a season-high 24 points. Fellow classmate Brooke Hagemann (Oklahoma City, Okla.) contributed 19 points and was second on the team with six rebounds. Completing the trio of double figure scorers with 10 was sophomore Seana Stoia (Tulsa, Okla.).

Freshman Michelle DeCoud (Monument, Colo.) grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds. On the night, Dallas shot a 33.8-percent field goal mark, 27.3-percent from beyond long distance, and 70.4-percent from the free throw line.

Texas Lutheran was forced into 19 miscues as the Lady Crusaders compiled 11 steals; cracking the double-digit plateau for the fourth-straight matchup.

The Bulldogs were led by Taylor Dydalewicz with 23 points to pace a quartet of double figure scoring performers. Kristen Lye tossed in 14 from the bench, while Karisa Cantu and Bianca Casas added 11 and 10, respectively.

Chelsey Stolle and Lye tied for a team-high eight boards. Casas and Cantu combined for 11 of TLU's 17 assists with six and five, respectively. Dallas was just outrebounded 44-40 and the Black and Gold piled six blocks.
