@UDallasWBB solves Southwestern, 68-65 (OT)

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's basketball team (11-7, 3-4 SCAC) persevered 68-65 in overtime over Southwestern University (8-10, 4-3 SCAC) on Sunday afternoon at the Maher Athletic Center.

Following a half with seven lead changes, the Lady Crusaders went into the break with a 28-24 advantage. 

Christy Allen (Burton, Mich.) gave the navy and white a game-high six-point lead -- on a converted layup -- 50 seconds into the second-half.  

The senior post finished with a team-high 19 points and 10 rebounds (five offensive) for a double-double. Allen added two assists and two steals in 38 minutes on the court.

Southwestern's Chelsea Leeder forced overtime (63-63), as she sank a pair of free throws with one second remaining in regulation.

Leeder accumulated a game-high 21 points and 12 rebounds (two offensive) in 43 minutes of play. 

Dallas outscored their counterpart by a 5-2 margin in the extra frame, to walk away with a three-point victory. 

Junior guard Marleyna Bustamante (Donna, Texas) totalled 17 points, while Jordan Owens amassed 10 points for the Lady Pirates to round-out double-figure scorers.

Head coach Jina Johansen's squad forced 22 turnovers to their 16. The Lady Crusaders also generated 10 more free-throw attempts than Southwestern.

Dallas heads to San Antonio to face Trinity University in an 8 p.m. tip-off on Friday.
