@UDallasWBB chases Colorado College in conference-opener, 68-50

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's basketball team (7-3, 1-0 SCAC) opened conference-play with a 68-50 win over Colorado College (0-11, 0-1 SCAC) on Saturday afternoon at the Maher Athletic Center.

The Lady Crusaders led by as many as 11 points in the first-half, and went into the break with a 31-21 advantage. 

Head coach Jina Johansen's squad orchestrated a 23-10 run when play resumed, and boasted a 22-point lead with 5:24 remaining in the game. 

The navy and white trekked to an 18-point victory, following a 15-of-32 (46.9 percent) mark from the field in the second-half. 

Holly Tonry (Seattle, Wash.) achieved a game-high 15 points and eight assists. The freshman guard also tallied seven rebounds in 31 minutes on the court.

Senior post Christy Allen (Burton, Mich.) and junior forward Brooke Hagemann (Oklahoma City, Okla.) each added 12 points to round-out double-figure scorers for Dallas.

Courtney Tyus and Korbyn Ukasick amassed 12 points apiece for Colorado College.

Free throws proved a key statistic in the contest. Dallas sank 15-of-21, while the Lady Tigers converted 6-of-12.

The Lady Crusaders outrebounded their counterpart (49-36). They also won points-off-turnovers (18-14), points in the paint (36-24), second-chance points (10-3) and bench points (22-9).

Dallas heads to Farmers Branch, Texas, to combat Dallas Christian College at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
