@UDallasWBB scampers past Southwestern Adventist, 86-38

KEENE, Texas - The University of Dallas women's basketball team (5-1) extended their winning-streak to five games, after achieving an 86-38 win over Southwestern Adventist University (SAU) on Wednesday night at Leiske-Pultar Gymnasium.

The Lady Crusaders opened the game with 20-unanswered points on their way to a 50-12 lead at the break, following 21-of-36 (58.3 percent) shooting from the field in the initial half.

Head coach Jina Johansen's bunch grew their 38-point advantage to a game-high 55 points (86-31), with 3:24 remaining in the contest. 

The navy and white had 17 players appear in the game, and all but two student-athletes managed to record a point. 

Junior guard Marleyna Bustamante (Donna, Texas) tallied a game-high 16 points to go along with four rebounds (one offensive), three assists and a steal in 14 minutes on the court.

The only other Lady Crusader to amass double-figure scoring, senior post Christy Allen (Burton, Mich.) contributed 13 points, eight rebounds (three offensive) and four assists in 14 minutes of play.

SAU's Illiana Castillo put-home a team-high 13 points, while her teammate Princess Musick added 10 of her own.

In the lopsided affair, Dallas held significant advantages in rebounds (52-34), points off turnovers (22-13), points in the paint (46-22), fast-break points (22-2) and bench points (35-10). They forced 21 turnovers, and had 15 steals.

Dallas hosts Oglethorpe University (Ga.) on Friday, Dec. 20, in a 7:30 p.m. tip-off at the Maher Athletic Center.
