@UDallasWBB defeats Dallas Christian, 90-66

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's basketball team (2-1) triumphed 90-66 over Dallas Christian College (DCC) on Tuesday night at the Maher Athletic Center.

The Lady Crusaders trailed 8-4 to open the game, before senior post Christy Allen (Burton, Mich.) rebuttled with five-unanswered points to help head coach Jina Johansen's squad seize the lead for good from DCC (1-8) 5:14 into the affair.

Allen started a 14-0 run for Dallas, and finished with a double-double -- 14 points and 11 rebounds (four offensive) -- in 18 minutes of play.

Dallas had 17 student-athletes appear in total and take a 47-26 advantage into halftime. On the game, the navy and white managed 34-of-73 (46.6 percent) shooting from the field while limiting DCC to 19-of-48 (39.6 percent).

Freshman guard Darion Summers (Windham, N.H.) sank two free throws with 3:45 remaining in the contest to give the Lady Crusaders a 29-point lead, their largest of the contest.

Summers tallied a game-high 15 points, as she went 6-of-8 from the free-throw line and 4-of-7 from the floor with one 3-pointer. She also recorded four rebounds (two offensive), four assists and a steal in 19 minutes of action from the bench.

Junior guard Marleyna Bustamante (Donna, Texas) had 12 points and freshman post Seana Stoia (Tulsa, Okla.) contributed 11 to put four Lady Crusaders into double figures.

In a game with a combined 49 fouls, Dallas deposited 19-of-23 from the charity stripe to DCC's 19-of-31 effort.

Dallas outrebounded DCC by a 53-27 margin, with 22 offensive boards. The Lady Crusaders also ended with advantages in points-off-turnovers (30-11), points in the paint (44-14), second-chance points (26-7), fast-break points (10-0) and bench points (47-19).

Dallas will face Arlington Baptist College at 5 p.m. on Thursday in Arlington, Texas.
