Women's Basketball breezes by Dallas Christian College, 76-51; Freshman guard Baker finishes with career-high nine 3-pointers and 34 points

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's basketball team (8-14, 3-10) handled Dallas Christian College (DCC), 76-51, on Wednesday evening at the Maher Athletic Center, behind an explosive 34 points and 9-of-13 shooting from 3-point range by freshman guard Jordon Baker

The 5-foot-6 Baker (Allen, Texas/Plano East H.S.) amassed the game-high in points on 11-of-21 shooting from the field and a 3-of-4 effort from the free-throw line. She also finished with nine rebounds (two offensive), two assists and two steals in 29-minutes of play. 

Netting 6-of-8 from beyond the arc and totalling 20-points in the first half, Baker helped the Lady Crusaders enter the break with a 43-23 scoreboard advantage. 

Dallas shot 42.9-percent (15-of-35) in the opening half, while holding DCC to a 30.4-percent (7-of-23) mark from the floor. 

5-foot-5 freshman guard Emily Madden (Torrington, Wyo./Torrington H.S.) was the only other Dallas player to enter double-figure scoring. Madden had 17-points for the game on 6-of-13 shooting from the field, including a 3-of-6 night from distance, while knocking down 3-of-6 from the charity stripe. She also tabulated eight rebounds (two offensive) and an assist in 27-minutes for head coach Jina Johansen. 

With the game in hand, 6-foot junior forward Theresa Wohldmann (Florissant, Mo./Nerinx Hall H.S.) and 5-foot-4 senior guard Christina Rampellini saw extended minutes on the court. The duo netted eight rebounds (one offensive) and an assist in a combined 25-minutes of game action. 

From the field in the second half, Dallas converted on 31.6-percent (12-of-38), while limiting DCC to a clip of 26.7-percent (8-of-30) en route to a 25-point victory.  

The Lady Crusaders outrebounded DCC, 53-38, on the game. The bench statistic played a significant role, as DCC only had one substitute. Dallas won the bench-point battle (40-0), points-off-turnovers (22-9) and second-chance points (10-7), but DCC held the points-in-the-paint advantage (20-14).

On Saturday, Feb. 11, Dallas will square off with SCAC foe Austin College. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Sherman, Texas.
