Hagemann's game-high 27 points, 11 rebounds lead way for Women's Basketball in 73-66 triumph over Sewanee: University of the South (TN)

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's basketball team (6-12, 2-8 SCAC) notched a 73-66 victory over Sewanee: University of the South (Tenn.) on Friday evening at the Maher Athletic Center, with Brooke Hagemann recording a game-high 27-points and 11 rebounds (double-double) in the win.

To the chagrin of Sewanee (8-10, 2-8 SCAC), the 5-foot-11 freshman guard Hagemann's (Oklahoma City, Okla./Westmoore H.S.) night included a game-high 27-points on 11-of-19 shooting from the field and a perfect 4-of-4 effort from the free-throw line.

Hagemann also recorded a game-high 11 rebounds (six offensive), while amassing two assists and five steals in 37-minutes of play.

The game started well for the Lady Crusaders, whom owned a half-high seven-point lead at 16:21 of the first-half before entering the break with a 35-29 scoreboard advantage.

Neither team fared particularly well from the field in the first half, with Dallas shooting 36.1-percent (13-of-36) to Sewanee's 33.3-percent (11-of-33). However, both teams were more efficient in the second half, as Dallas converted on 48-percent (12-of-25) of their shots, while the Lady Tigers countered with a mark of 65.4-percent (17-of-26).

Never trailing throughout the game, the Lady Crusaders came out like barn-busters to open the second half, going on an 11-0 run which culminated in a game-high 19-point lead for Dallas at 16:29.

Sewanee trimmed their deficit to seven points (59-52) with 5:47 remaining in regulation, and ended the game losing by this margin, 73-66, after some ebb-and-flow scoring to end the half.

Dallas converted on 11-of-15 from the free-throw line in the second half, while Sewanee sank 1-of-2.

For the game, the Lady Crusaders led points-off-turnovers (25-18), and second-chance points (11-9), while Sewanee held the advantage in points-in-the-paint (42-24) and bench points (28-4).

In addition to Hagemann, 5-foot-4 junior guard Kylie Yoshimura (Temple City, Calif./Mark Keppel H.S.) and 5-foot-6 freshman guard Lauren Jumaoas (Carrollton, Texas/Newman Smith H.S.) also entered double-figure scoring.

Yoshimura's final stat-line included 17-points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field, including netting 4-of-8 from distance, and draining a free throw. She also totalled two rebounds, six assists, a block and a steal in 39-minutes on the court.

Jumaoas had 11-points on 3-of-6 shooting from 3-point range, while putting home 2-of-6 from the charity stripe. She also finished with two rebounds, two assists and a steal in 33-minutes of work.
