Yoshimura nets career-high 42-points for Women's Basketball in 90-85 overtime-loss to Hendrix College (AR)

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's basketball team (4-8, 0-4 SCAC) fell 90-85 in overtime to Hendrix College (Ark.) on Friday evening at the Maher Athletic Center, despite a career performance from Kylie Yoshimura, who netted 42-points in the loss.

Yoshimura (Temple City, Calif./Mark Keppel H.S.) scored 22 of her game-high 42-points in the first half. For the game, the 5-foot-4 junior guard netted 16-of-24 from the field, including 6-of-10 from 3-point range. She also went 4-of-5 from the free-throw line, while totaling five rebounds (one offensive), six assists and three steals in 40-minutes of play.

Christy Allen (Burton, Mich./St. Thomas More Academy) helped Dallas open the game on a 9-0 run, after the 5-foot-10 sophomore post sank a jumper with 17:23 on the clock.

Allen's final stat-line included 10-points on 5-of-11 shooting from the field, while she also recorded five rebounds (one offensive), an assist and a steal in 22-minutes of game action.

In a back-and-forth first-half seeing seven different lead changes, Hendrix took a five point, 42-37 lead into halftime.

The Lady Warriors shot 52.9-percent (18-of-34) in the first half, while Dallas converted on 45.5-percent (15-of-33) from the field.

Hendrix grew a nine-point lead at the 16:54-mark of the second half, thanks to a three-point play from Jamie Tate, whose 23-points finished tied for the team-high with Katy Ashley-Pauley.

With more back-and-forth to finish regulation, the game was tied for a sixth time when Yoshimura stepped into a 3-pointer with three-seconds remaining to force overtime. The two teams headed to the extra frame, tied 71-71.

In overtime, Hendrix took the lead at the 4:38-mark when Anna Roane knocked down a pair of free throws. From this point, onward, Hendrix never looked back.

The Lady Warriors grew their lead to as high as eight-points before taking the game, 89-83.

For the game, Dallas lost the battle on the boards, 50-39. They also shot 44.2-percent (34-of-77) from the field, as opposed to Hendrix's 47.7-percent (31-of-65).

In addition to Yoshimura and Allen, two other Lady Crusaders -- a pair of freshmen guards -- finished in double-figure scoring -- Marleyna Bustamante (10 points) and Brooke Hagemann (11 points).

Bustamante (Donna, Texas/ Pharr-San-Juan-Alamo H.S.) went 4-of-10 from the field, and sank 2-of-4 from the free-throw line. She also tacked on three rebounds (two offensive), three assists, a block and three steals in 22-minutes of play.

Meanwhile, Hagemann netted 5-of-11 from the field, including 1-of-3 from 3-point range. She aslo notched five rebounds (one offensive), an assist and a block in 37 minutes.

Dallas will take to the court on Sunday, Jan. 8, in a 1 p.m. contest versus SCAC foe Colorado College (Colo.) at the Maher Athletic Center.
