Women's Basketball celebrates 'Senior Night' on Tuesday, Feb. 15, versus Southwestern Adventist University

IRVING, Texas - Three Lady Crusaders will have their career accomplishments detailed in a pregame ceremony on Tuesday, Feb. 15, at the Maher Athletic Center, as Dallas plays host to Southwestern Adventist University, in their final home game of the 2010-11 season. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. 

The three members of the Lady Crusaders' senior class are forward/center Joirdan Cole (Plano, Texas/Bishop Lynch H.S.), guard Bethany Roessler (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier College Prep), and forward Cara Sczepanski (Highland Village, Texas/Marcus H.S.). 

Joirdan Cole 

The daughter of Jennifer Crawford, Joirdan came to the University of Dallas from Bishop Lynch H.S. in Plano, Texas, where she was a Second Team All-District selection from 2005-07. While at the University of Dallas, the 6'0" post was named a letter-winner in her sophomore and junior seasons.  

Career highlights: 

  • Freshman year (2007-08): Joirdan played in 17 games, earning starts in six of the contests. In her first year, she averaged 7.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.05 blocks per game.  
  • Sophomore year (2008-09): Her workload increase quite a bit, as she earned 20 starts in 25 games played. Joirdan's 10.7 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.56 blocks per game landed her on the Association of Division III Independents' (AD3I) All-Independent Second Team. Letter winner. 
  • Junior year (2009-10): Received two starts in 22 games played, and averaged 7.8 points per game, as well as 7 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game. Letter winner. 
  • Senior year (2010-11): Joirdan started every one of the 15 games she played. For her career, she averaged 9.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.

Bethany Roessler

The daughter of David and Susan Roessler, Bethany played her high school basketball at Xavier College Prep in Phoenix, Ariz., where she took home accolades such as Second Team All-Region, All-Region Defensive Team, Xavier Defensive MVP, PWSA High School Athlete of the Year Award, Outstanding Senior Athlete, Most Valuable Region Performer (Track), and Most Valuable Field Performer (Track). While at the University of Dallas, the 5'6" guard was named a letter-winner as a freshman, sophomore and junior. 

Career highlights:

  • Freshman year (2007-08): Bethany started 23-of-27 games played. On the season, the pass-first guard averaged 4 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.1 steals per game. For her efforts, she was declared Dallas' Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the 2007-08 season. Letter winner. 
  • Sophomore year (2008-09): Bethany started all of the 17 games she played. In her second year, she averaged 4.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.0 steals per game. Letter winner. 
  • Junior year (2009-10): She started all the 28 contests she entered, and averaged 5.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game. For her career, Bethany thus far is averaging 5 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. Letter winner. 
  • Senior year (2010-11): Bethany has started 20 games, and is averaging 6.6 points and 5 rebounds per game. For her career, Bethany is averaging 5 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.

Cara Sczepanski 

The most heralded of the 2010-11 Lady Crusader senior class, and the daughter of Bill and Carolyn Sczepanski, Cara was nominated to the McDonald's All-American Team while attending Marcus H.S. in Flower Mound, Texas. Her other accomplishments prior to arriving at the University of Dallas are as follows: TGCA All-State (2006 & 2007), TABC All-Area, District Player of the Year (2007), District Offensive Player of the Year (2006), All-time leading scorer (1,561 points) for Marcus High School, TGCA All State-Academic, TABC All State-Academic.

Cara, a 5'9" forward, has been named a letter-winner in every season she's laced up her sneakers at Dallas. 

Career highlights:

  • Freshman year (2007-08): Cara started/played 27 games for Dallas, averaging 16.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game. Some of her accolades for her first season at Dallas include the 2007-08 AD3I First Team and Top 75 in scoring and field goal percentage in NCAA DIII. Letter winner. 
  • Sophomore year (2008-09): Cara became more efficient offensively. In her 25 starts, she averaged 18.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.8 steals per game. She was named Dallas' MVP, 2008-09 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) All-Conference Second Team, 2008-09 AD3I First Team and was Top 50 in scoring in NCAA DIII. Letter winner. 
  • Junior year (2009-10): Cara continued on her torrent statistical pace. She started 28 games, and averaged 18.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 2.2 steals per game. She boasted 2009-10 NEAC All-Conference Second Team, AD3I All-Independent First Team/Player of the Year and was touted a United States Collegiate Athletic Association All-American. Letter winner. 
  • Senior year (2010-11): On the season, she's averaging 17 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. For her career thus far, she's averaging 17.8 points and 7.8 rebounds in 100 games played.
