Women's Basketball gets 'Senior Night' victory over Southwestern Adventist University

IRVING, Texas - It was 'Senior Night' on Tuesday for the University of Dallas women's basketball team (12-11). The Lady Crusaders notched an 80-65 victory over the Southwestern Adventist University Knights at the Maher Athletic Center.

Three Lady Crusaders were honored in a pregame ceremony -- Joirdan Cole (Plano, Texas/Bishop Lynch H.S.), Bethany Roessler (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier College Prep) and Cara Sczepanski (Highland Village, Texas/Marcus H.S.).

Sczepanski, in her last home game of her storied Dallas career, netted a team-high 13 first-half points, en route to a 35-28 Lady Crusader lead at halftime.

Looking to send the seniors out on the right note, the Lady Crusaders ramped up their game when play resumed. Sophomore guard Kylie Yoshimura (Temple City, Calif./Mark Keppel H.S.) gave Dallas a 20 point lead when she sank a three-pointer with 5:28 remaining in the contest. Yoshimura went on to record a game-high 26 points on 10-of-22 shooting from the field, including a 5-for-7 night from the free throw line. She also had four rebounds and nine assists.

Minutes later, freshman guard Kia Grable (Wathena, Kan./Troy H.S.) gave Dallas their biggest lead of the game (21 points) with a made three-pointer, before the Lady Crusaders went on to the 15 point victory. For the game Grable totaled nine points, shooting 3-of-7 from the field, including netting 3-of-4 from behind the arc.  

Junior guard Kelly Regan (Plano, Texas/John Paul II H.S.) was a third Lady Crusader to enter double figures, scoring wise. She shot 5-of-9 from the field, including making 3-of-4 from the charity stripe.

Up next for Dallas will be a road game versus Trinity University, which takes place at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19.
