Women's Basketball taken down by Chapman University

ORANGE, Calif. - After losing to UC Santa Cruz on Saturday to open play in the DIII Independents Round Robin, the University of Dallas women's basketball team (11-11) fell on Sunday afternoon to host school Chapman University, 65-45.

The first half of play against Chapman saw the Lady Crusaders shoot 30 percent (6-of-20) from the field, while the Panthers converted 46.4 percent (13-of-28) in the initial period. Entering halftime, Dallas trailed Chapman, 32-23.

The Lady Crusaders were marred by turnovers in this contest, as they forfeited the basketball 34 times, while only forcing the Panthers into 17 turnovers.

With 19 of Dallas' turnovers occuring in the second half, the Lady Crusaders weren't able to generate much offense when play resumed, as they sank 46.7 (7-of-15) from the field. Meanwhile, Chapman turned in a 35.9 percent (14-of-39) second half from the floor.

Two Lady Crusaders entered double figures, scoring wise, on the afternoon. Senior forward Cara Sczepanski (Highland Village, Texas/Marcus H.S.) totaled 10 points and six rebounds, while senior guard Bethany Roessler (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier College Prep) recorded a team-high 14 points.

With the season winding down, it's 'Senior Night' for the Lady Crusaders on Tuesday night at the Maher Athletic Center. Tip-off against Southwestern Adventist University is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
