The University of Dallas women's basketball team (9-7) defeated Dallas Christian College (DCC) on Friday evening, 67-42.

After the first-half of play, the Lady Crusaders led DCC, 31-22. Sophomore guard Kylie Yoshimura (Temple City, Calif./Mark Keppel H.S.) and senior forward Cara Sczepanski (Highland Village, Texas/Marcus H.S.) led the way for Dallas in the opening period, each amassing 10 points.

The second-half proved to be more of the same, with Dallas outscoring DCC, 36-20, and in the process pulling away for the 25 point victory.

Yoshimura's final stat-line saw her finish with 13 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the floor, including 3-of-6 from three-point range and 2-of-4 from the free throw line.

Sczepanski added another 10 points in the second-half en route to a game-high 20 point performance. Sczepanski's output was a result of sinking 8-of-17 from the field, including netting 4-of-5 opportunities at the free throw line. She also led the Lady Crusaders in rebounding, grabbing 15 boards to finish with her fifth double-double of the season.

Junior guard Kelly Regan (Plano, Texas/John Paul II H.S.) held fort as the third Lady Crusader to reach double digits in scoring on the night. Regan had 11 points on 5-of-12 shooting from the field, and converted 1-of-2 from the charity stripe.

Senior forward/center Joirdan Cole (Plano, Texas/Bishop Lynch H.S.) was second on the team in rebounding, hauling in nine boards for the Lady Crusaders. Cole, who also had two steals, was forced to combat DCC's Titan Chuma for most of the night -- Chuma tallied 19 points and 20 rebounds.

Assists were aplenty for the Lady Crusaders, who held the advantage over DCC, 22-7. Seven of these helpers for Dallas came from the hands of senior guard Betthany Roessler (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier College Prep). Roessler accumulated six points on 3-of-7 shooting from the field.

Next up for the Lady Crusaders will be another contest with DCC, but this time on the road. The latter half of the back-to-back will take place on Saturday, Jan. 22nd, with tip-off scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
