Women's Basketball suffers loss to Rhodes College Lynx

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Dallas women's basketball team (8-7) fell early Tuesday evening to the Rhodes College Lynx, 61-57, ending their four game winning streak.

The Lady Crusaders were stagnant from the floor in the first half, shooting 10-of-34 to the tune of 29.4 percent, including missing all seven of their three-point attempts.

Meanwhile, Rhodes jumped out to a 30-22 halftime advantage thanks to netting 13-of-37 from the field (35.1 percent) in the opening period.

In the second half, Dallas turned things around, shooting 36.8 percent (14-of-38), but could only hold Rhodes to 39.3 percent from the field (11-of-28).

Rhodes went 7-of-14 from the free throw line in the second half, which almost worked in Dallas' favor, but the Lady Crusaders could only claw back to within four points of the Lynx as time expired.

Senior forward/center Joirdan Cole (Plano, Texas/Bishop Lynch H.S.) had a team-high 16 points and 11 rebounds (double double) for Dallas.

Other Lady Crusaders reaching double figures in scoring were freshman forward Christy Allen (Burton, Mich./St. Thomas More Academy) and senior forward Cara Sczepanski (Highland Village, Texas/Marcus H.S.), who each totaled 12 points. Not to be outdone by Cole, Allen hauled in 10 rebounds for a double-double of her own.

Up next for Dallas is a home contest versus Dallas Christian College on Friday, Jan. 14th. Tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at the Maher Athletic Center.
