Sczepanski, Yoshimura, Coach Fleming Honored by Association of Division III Independents

After a solid season for the UD women's basketball team which ended in the finals of the North Eastern Athletic Conference championship game, concluding a 15-13 season, two Crusaders players have been named to the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) All-Independent team. Junior forward Cara Sczepanski (Highland Village, TX/Marcus H.S.) was named to the First team and in recognition of her record breaking year. She was also named AD3I Player of the Year. This season Cara broke the all time point record at the University of Dallas, finishing the campaign with 529 giving her a career total of 1,437. She was a dominating force throughout the season finishing with 16 double doubles and averaging 18.9 points to go along with 9.6 rebounds per game.

Her teammate, freshman Kylie Yoshimura (Temple City, CA/Mark Keppel H.S), was also honored with a spot on the second team AD3I All-Independent team, along with picking up the Rookie of the Year award. In just her first season, Kylie set the UD season record for assists finishing with 141 on the year. She was a big contributor to UD's success this season, finishing second on the team in points, averaging 13.1 to go along with an average of 5 assists per game.

Also receiving post season honors for Dallas was third year head coach Jennifer Fleming, who was named the AD3I All-Independent Coach of the Year. In her three seasons with UD, coach Fleming has lead them to 35 wins and has the school record for best single season winning percentage at .535.

With no seniors on this year's team, and the experience of the returning players led by Sczepanski and Yoshimura, next season is looking very promising for the women's basketball team at the University of Dallas.
