Women’s Basketball: NEAC Tournament Preview

On Friday, February 26 the University of Dallas Women's basketball team will travel to Reading, PA to take part in the North Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament. UD is ranked number five in the field of eleven teams, and will face SUNY-IT in the opening round. The winners of the tournament will advance to the NCAA Division III tournament, a feat not yet accomplished by the University of Dallas.

The women's team currently sports a 13-12 record and has won 8 of their last 12 games. Leading the charge for the Crusaders has been junior forward Cara Sczepanski (Highland Village, TX/Marcus H.S.). She currently leads the team in scoring with 474 points (19.0), rebounds 240 (9.6), steals (53), blocks (25), field goals (170), free throws (133) and free throw percentage (75.1%). She also has a whopping 13 double-doubles. Another strong point for the Dallas women this year has been the guard play of freshman Kylie Yoshimura (Temple City, CA/Mark Keppel H.S.). Kylie has an impressive 126 assists on the year, to go with her 12.6 points per game and her team high 43 three pointers. Rounding out the starting five will be junior guard Bethany Roessler (Phoenix, AZ/Xavier College Prep), junior forward Megan Frost (Slidell, LA/Northshore H.S.), and sophomore guard Kelly Regan (Plano, TX/John Paul II H.S.).
