Two Crusaders Named 2025 All-SCAC Honorable Mention
IRVING, Texas - Two Crusaders were honored this past weekend at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships. Both Keely Mathis and MacKenzie Flocke earned All-SCAC Honorable Mention.
MacKenzie Flocke wrapped up a solid season at the plate, playing in all 40 games and compiling a .278 batting average. With 32 hits in 115 at-bats, Flocke was a steady offensive contributor, driving in 19 runs despite only recording two extra-base hits. While power numbers were minimal, her ability to consistently put the ball in play helped extend innings and move runners. Flocke showed patience at the plate with just one walk, keeping strikeouts in check with only 12 over the season.
On the basepaths, Flocke made limited appearances but managed to steal one base without being caught, showing smart aggression. Her on-base percentage (.286) and slugging (.296) indicate that her bat-to-ball skills remained a strength. Her offensive production filled a vital role in the lineup, especially when runners were in scoring position.
Defensively, Flocke was highly reliable, posting a .976 fielding percentage over 209 total chances. She recorded 200 putouts and four assists while being part of five double plays, committing only five errors across the season. Her steady glove and solid instincts provided stability at her position, making her a dependable presence in the field. Flocke's consistent fielding and balanced offensive output made her a valuable asset to the team throughout the year.
Keely Mathis delivered a strong offensive season, appearing in 39 games and posting an impressive .349 batting average. With 38 hits in 109 at-bats, Mathis was a consistent threat at the plate, scoring 24 runs and driving in 12. Though her extra-base hits were limited to two doubles, she showed excellent plate discipline with 10 walks and kept strikeouts low at just six. Her .405 on-base percentage reflects both her contact skills and ability to reach base through selective hitting.
On the bases, Mathis added another layer to her offensive value, successfully stealing 12 bases in 13 attempts. Her quickness and awareness on the basepaths helped put pressure on opposing defenses and create additional scoring opportunities. Her high batting average and on-base percentage made her a key table-setter and an essential part of the offensive lineup throughout the season.
In the field, Mathis took on a demanding role with 148 total chances, recording 52 putouts and 82 assists while being involved in four double plays. Although she committed 14 errors, finishing with a .905 fielding percentage, her activity and involvement on defense highlighted her range and willingness to make challenging plays. Despite some defensive miscues, Mathis's overall impact—especially at the plate and on the bases—made her one of the team's most dynamic and valuable contributors this season.
