Late Push Not Enough for Softball vs Trinity

March 30, 2024

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas softball team lost their conference game against Trinity University on Saturday, falling to 3-19 on the year and 0-9 in conference play.

Dallas 3, Trinity 7

WP: Megan Kriechbaum (2-0)

LP: Ava Trevino (0-8)

Trinity jumped out to a comfortable lead early. They scored two runs on two hits in the second, then scored three runs on four hits and an error in the third to take a 5-0 lead after three.

The Crusaders were held hitless all the way until the seventh inning.  They managed to get a couple of baserunners on two walks in the third, but could do nothing with them.

The two sides traded blows in the fifth and sixth.  Trinity made it 6-0 in the fifth, stringing three straight hits together, then Dallas got on the board with an RBI groundout by Katie Duffy-Relf, taking advantage of another pair of walks.

In the sixth, Trinity scored on a wild pitch, then Lizette Sosa made it 7-2 with an RBI groundout after an error, a walk, and a wild pitch put runners on second and third.

Dallas had all the making of a late rally, loading the bases with no outs on two singles and a walk.  Though they plated one run, a double play and a strikeout ended the threat nearly as soon as it began, as Trinity completed the series sweep.
