UD Softball plays Home-Opening Series vs. Austin College over Weekend

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas softball team plays its first home games this Saturday and Sunday versus Austin College. It will be a four-game series with the first three games counting toward the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) standings. Both twinbills are slated to begin at 12 p.m. each day.

Livestats will be available for all games. On Saturday, the video is scheduled to be done on Facebook Live. On Sunday, the doubleheader is scheduled to be on College TV Ticket.

At this time, spectators are not permitted to attend any Dallas Athletic events.

Dallas is 0-3 on the season after being swept its opening conference series at Southwestern University. The Crusaders fell 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh, before being run-ruled in the next two games. Last weekend, UD's road non-conference trip to University of the Ozarks was not played due to weather.

Brenna Kelly (Missouri City, Texas) is the team's top hitter with four hits and half of them for extra bases. The freshman homered, doubled, stole a base, and drove in three runs in her first collegiate series. Annabel Anderson (Midlothian, Texas) follows with three hits.

Maggie Watts (Arcadia, La.) led the pitching staff with 8.2 innings pitched. She was saddled with the tough loss in the opener after 6.2 innings. Emily Martin (San Jose, Calif.) has fanned five batters in 6.1 innings.

Austin College enters 0-4 on the year and 0-2 in SCAC action after a pair of setbacks at Centenary College.

Jaide Vidal has three hits, while Sarah Ramirez and Hannah Richendollar each have a pair. Richendollar and Ashley Elliott have combined for 15.1 innings.

Last time these teams met was in 2019 and the doubleheader was split with UD with the 'Roos winning 10-8 and UD winning 6-5. Dallas rallied for six runs to overcome the deficit in the fifth inning. Liz Cordova (Oklahoma City, Okla.) and Bri Hale (Austin, Texas) doubled in that one. Watts pitched 2.1 shutout innings of relief.

Dallas continues its longest home stand of 10 games with a three-game set versus Centenary College on Mar. 27-28.
