UD Softball Head Coach Dykes Resigns

IRVING, Texas – University of Dallas softball coach Caitlynn Dykes announced her resignation on Wednesday to pursue other opportunities. A national search for the next head coach of the program will begin immediately.

Dykes was named the seventh coach for UD softball and posted a 14-47 record over two years. This included a shortened 2020 season due to COVID-19. Dallas went 5-11 overall with a 3-0 start to the spring highlighting the start. The Crusaders ended action with their first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) victory at Centenary College in eight innings.

In 2019, Dykes helped UD snap a six-game conference tournament streak with a 7-2 upset over fourth-seeded Schreiner University in an elimination game.

Dallas had a pair of SCAC All-Conference players and one United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) All-American under Dykes. Three-time recipient Emily Martin named to the USCAA National All-Academic Team both years Dykes was at the helm. The Crusaders improved as a unit in the classroom with Dykes going from six players to 10 (program-high since joining league) on the SCAC Spring Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll. Only Martin and Maggie Watts were listed both campaigns.
