LAST TIME OUT
The University of Dallas softball team started the season 2-0 after sweeping a twinbill over Southwestern College (KS) at home last Friday. Liz Cordova (Oklahoma City, Okla.) drove in Julie Duenas (Houston, Texas) to claim a 4-3 walk-off in game one. The Crusaders run-ruled SC, 15-7, with an eight-run bottom of the fifth.
UD NOTES
- The Crusaders started the season 2-0 for consecutive seasons with a doubleheader sweep at home over Southwestern College.
- Mackenzie Tano (Wylie, Texas) earned Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Player of the Week the first week. She went 5-7, three runs scored, a double, and two RBI.
- Karina Campo (Georgetown, Texas), Madison Coutts (Tampa, Fla.), and Cordova registered three-hit totals for the combined doubleheader opening year.
- Maggie Watts (Arcadia, La.) has pitched a team-high 5.1 innings over two outings. She is 1-0 and sports a 1.69 ERA.
- The team worked 14 walks in the first series while allowing five.
ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
- Howard Payne is 2-0 on the season after sweeping Austin College last Saturday.
- Kayla Hill went 4-4 with four RBI in the pair of games.
- Aurora Luera and Kiley Person added three hit results apiece in the two games.
- Tia Campos threw seven innings in her start. She allowed the team's only runs (3, 1 ER) on the season. She has fanned five. Hannah Morales and Zalayna Perez each threw a combined five innings and did not allow a run in their appearances.
