FIRST PITCH
The University of Dallas softball team opens the 2020 season at home versus Southwestern College (KS) on Friday. First pitch of the doubleheader is at 4 p.m. The Crusaders are home for seven games in February and nine of the first 15 games on the season. UD is only home for 15 contests this entire spring.
UD NOTES
- Julie Duenas (Houston, Texas) returns as a top hitter with a .416 batting average and 52 hits. She also hit four home runs and totaled 71 bases. The next highest was 56.
- Liz Cordova (Oklahoma City, Okla.) is another middle of the order threat with 10 doubles a season ago. She drove in 16 runs and was hit by a pitch five times.
- Karina Campo (Georgetown, Texas) tagged a pair of homers and finished with 19 hits to go with 10 RBI.
- In the circle, Campo led the staff with 79 innings pitched.
- Maggie Watts (Arcadia, La.) pitched 38.2 innings over 15 appearances, 10 starts, last year. She has started 30 games in her career.

- Southwestern College went 10-26 last season and 4-20 in the KCAC.
- The Moundbuilders were selected 13th out of 13 schools in the KCAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- Eight losses last season came by a run.
- SC returns Loren Wright and Cady Norton. Wright hit .337 and will be the top returner for on-base percentage. Norton batted .336 and tallied a team-high 23 RBI.
- MacKenzie Lyons and Hannah Foltz are the top two pitchers back for Southwestern. Lyons struck out 44 batters and led the staff in opponent batting average. Foltz anchored the staff for innings pitched and punched out 38 batters.
