Finch awarded SCAC Offensive Player of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Avery Finch (Jamul, Calif.) has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Softball Offensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, April 17th through Sunday, April 23rd. This is the first time the senior outfielder garnered the weekly award in her career and claimed the final one given out this spring.

Finch was a catalyst at the top of the lineup helping the University of Dallas take a 3-1 series win over Austin College this weekend to close out the regular season at home. Finch overall was 8-for-12 at the plate to bat a .667 average. The center fielder, who also slugged .833, provided a spark at the top of the lineup by reaching base 10 times. Finch scored six runs and stole eight bases over the series. This included the program's all-time leader in steals to get three in game one on Senior Day to propel her above 100 thefts for her career.

Finch is third on the team hitting exactly .300 for a batting average on the campaign. She is third in runs scored with 19 and second in stolen bases with 17. Finch continued her strong senior slate against SCAC opponents. In conference, the left-handed batter managed to slash a .355/.403/.387 for avg./obp./slg., and she totaled 22-of-24 hits while having crossed home 18 times. All 17 steals were against league foes too.

Dallas qualified for the fifth straight year in a row for the SCAC Tournament. This year it is being hosted by Texas Lutheran University. The Crusaders earned the fifth seed and will play the fourth seed Schreiner University at 12 p.m. on Friday.
