Lee and Tesauro Tabbed for All-SCAC Softball First Team; Eight Players ranked with Honors

KERRVILLE, Texas – The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) released the All-Conference Softball Teams for the 2015 campaign on Friday. Two members of the University of Dallas softball squad highlighted eight players total from the Navy and White garnering accolades with First Team mentions.

The duo claiming the honors were sophomores Katie Lee (Houston, Texas) and Lyda Tesauro for pitcher and outfielder, respectively. It was the second year in a row each collected awards from the All-SCAC, when Tesauro took second team and Lee earned honorable mention.

It is the first time since joining the league four years ago, the Lady Crusaders have placed at least one player on the All-SCAC First Team selection.

Lee has been a durable arm for the Navy and White, logging a season, school-record 205 innings through 33 games and 30 starts. The Houston, Texas, native led the SCAC with 19 wins, 99 strikeouts, and innings pitched. Her win total also captured another season program record, and helped the team match a team-most 20 triumphs during a spring season.

Tesauro ranks second on the Lady Crusaders with a .374 batting average, but has topped the club in several other offensive categories. The right fielder slugged .606, scored 31 runs, cracked 14 doubles, three triples, and tied for most total bases with 60. She is a perfect 24-of-24 on the basepaths ranking second on the team and in the SCAC in stolen bases behind teammate Avery Finch (Jamul, Calif.).

Finch clinched her first All-SCAC Second Team, and was the only one for UD among that group. It was the second All-Conference award for the sophomore as she took Honorable Mention her rookie campaign. The Centerfielder has hit .333 with 39 hits on the team for second. She has scored 26 times to round out the top three, but has been a threat on the basepaths this year. Finch totaled a personal and school best 29 swipes, and has led the league all season.

Rounding out the unit with five Honorable Mentions included: senior catcher Taylor Garcia (Pflugerville, Texas), junior shortstop Erin Begle (Houston, Texas), freshman third baseman Madison Goforth (Tyler, Texas), sophomore left fielder Allison Kotlar (Edna, Texas), and senior second baseman Ashley Pickert (Lenexa, Kan.).

Dallas plays in Game 5 of the SCAC Tournament for an Elimination Game against Southwestern University at 10 a.m.
