Five Lady Crusaders named to 2014 All-@SCAC_Sports Softball 'Honorable Mention Team'

SEGUIN, Texas - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) has placed five University of Dallas student-athletes -- Erin Begle, Avery Finch, Taylor Garcia, Katherine Lee and Ashley Pickert -- on the 2014 All-SCAC Softball Honorable Mention Team.

These recognitions come following an 11-27 (7-15 SCAC) regular-season by the Lady Crusaders. 

Begle (Houston, Texas), a 5-foot-8 sophomore shortstop, started 35-of-35 games played for Dallas. Her 12 doubles finished third in the SCAC on the season. Begle also notably ranked as follows in the league: 58 total bases (10th), a .523 slugging percentage (10th), two hit by pitches (11th), one sacrifice fly (11th), 23 runs batted in (12th), two home runs (12th), 38 hits (13th) and 23 runs (14th).

Finch (Jamul, Calif.), a 5-foot-4 freshman outfielder, started 36-of-36 games played for head coach Beth Krysiak's squad. Her 17 stolen bases were third in the SCAC. Finch also notably ranked as follows: 120 at-bats (11th) and 38 hits (13th).

Garcia (Pflugerville, Texas), a 5-foot-5 junior catcher, started 23-of-24 games played for the navy and white. Her four home runs were fourth in the SCAC, and helped Dallas set the single-season school record of 17 home runs. Garcia also had a sacrifice fly (11th).

Lee (Houston, Texas), a 4-foot-11 freshman right-handed pitcher, started 19 games and had 26 appearances overall for the Lady Crusaders. Her 17 complete games were second in the SCAC. Lee also notably ranked as follows: 79 strikeouts (fifth), three shutouts (fifth), a 2.82 earned run average (sixth), 3.77 stirkeouts per game (ninth) and four runners caught stealing (13th).

Pickert (Lenexa, Kan.), a 5-foot-1 junior infielder, started 38-of-38 games played in 2014, including four starts in eight appearances as a right-handed pitcher. At the plate, her six hit-by-pitches led the SCAC. Pickert also notably had seven doubles (15th).
