Brittany Castro, Taylor Garcia heralded 2013 USCAA Softball 'All-Americans'

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) has selected Brittany Castro as a 2013 USCAA Softball Second Team All-American and tabbed Taylor Garcia to the honorable mention team.

Castro (Houston, Texas), a 5-foot-3 senior shortstop, holds the school record with 10 career home runs. She left the yard four times in 2013 and ranked as follows in the USCAA: 16 walks (seventh), three triples (tied ninth), a .518 on-base percentage (10th), a .713 slugging percentage (12th) and a .426 batting average (15th).

Garcia (Pflugerville, Texas) is a 5-foot-5 sophomore catcher. She ranked as follows in the USCAA: a .610 on-base percentage (first), 12 hit by pitches (first), a .843 slugging percentage (third), 37 RBI (fourth), 14 doubles (fourth), two sacrifice flies (tied fourth), 75 total bases (seventh), 15 walks (tied seventh) and four home runs (tied eighth).
