Erin Begle, Taylor Garcia garner 2013 All-SCAC Softball 'Second Team' honors

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Freshman utility Erin Begle and sophomore catcher Taylor Garcia of the University of Dallas softball team have been named by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) to the 2013 All-SCAC Softball Second Team.

Begle (Houston), a 5-foot-8 right-handed batter, finished ranked as follows in the SCAC: a .447 batting average (tied first), a .689 slugging percentage (third), a .491 on-base percentage (third) and three triples (tied third).

She received one vote for 2013 SCAC Softball Newcomer-of-the-Year.

Garcia (Pflugerville, Texas), a 5-foot-5 right-handed hitter, finished ranked as follows in the SCAC: 12 hit by pitches (first), 14 doubles (fourth), 75 total bases (fifth), 37 RBI (fifth), two doubles (tied fifth) and 45 hits (ninth).

Garcia ended just a handful of at-bats shy of leading the SCAC in slugging percentage (.843), on-base percentage (.610) and batting average (.506). She received one vote for 2013 SCAC Softball Player-of-the-Year.
