Dallas Softball Swept by Austin College

The University of Dallas softball team was unable to defeat Austin College in the evening’s nightcap on February 17 in Sherman, TX. UD fell behind early and lost 4-8, scoring all 4 runs in the 5th inning. However, UD outhit the Roos from Austin College, putting up 11 to Austin College’s 10. Freshman infielder/outfielder Brittany Castro (Houston, TX/Langham Creek H.S.) and freshman infielder Christina Jeffrey (Tomball, TX/Concordia Lutheran) both scored one run and drove in one. Freshman infielder Sandra Gallegos (Houston, TX/Lamar H.S.) led the team with 2 RBI bringing in freshman infielder Morgan Smith (Irving, TX/Bishop Dunne) who had 2 hits and one run. Junior outfielder Jesse Allen (Madison, MS/St. Andrew’s Episcopal School) also contributed one run.

Despite the losses, the hope for the first home game of the season remains. So come out for the UD Spring Kickoff on February 26th at 4:00pm to cheer on the UD softball team as they take on Cornell College to start off the weekend festivities.
