NCAA Regionals Bittersweet For Alexander Bozhilov

IRVING, Texas -- Alexander Bozhilov competed in the fastest region nationally in Portland, Oregon at Lewis & Clark College for the NCAA Cross Country West Reigonals. This course was one of the most difficult when it comes to terrain and the overall elements. Dallas' Bozhilov was matched up against the defending champs, Pomona-Pitzer and crew and placed 16th overall and 8th individually. This would end Bozhilovs' season based on the only individual qualifying spots being listed in the Top 7.

Alex was a Top 3 finisher in the SCAC during this event and the 2nd ranked freshman to compete.

Coach Nick added, "Alex ran a phenomenal race. We executed everything that we wanted and he positioned himself perfectly. His times was a few seconds off his PR despite the muddy, hilly, and technical course. In most regions he would have easily made nationals, but when you are competing against the national champions along with some top ranked schools then our region was just brutal. Although Santa Cruz had a great season, the at large committee didn’t select them which made Alex the 8th individual. He is only a freshman so bigger and brighter things are ahead of us."
