IRVING, Texas -- Alex will be competing at the NCAA DIII Western Regional Championships hosted by Lewis and Clark University. Meet will be held at McIver Park in Estacada, Oregon. - 8k race. - Top 7 individuals that are not on a qualifying team will qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championships hosted by Rose Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Alex has won three runner of the week awards for the SCAC and he has broken the 3 MILE, 3.1 MILE, 4 MILE and the 8000 METER School individual records this season. He is one of the most accomplished athletes ever to step foot on campus as a freshman. Coach Nick added, "Alex is a different type of runner. When Anna Wilgenbusch was a two time All American for UD in 2019 and 2021, she was a very finesse runner. Alex is a different animal. As a triathlete, he is more of a strength runner and built differently then most distance athletes. His strength is what gets him through. We sat down and discussed our strategy which will be a bit different then the past. He cramped up at conference which affected him. For this race we want him to safely qualify for nationals and we have a game plan set for this race."
