Another Record Falls This Weekend

THIBODAUX, Louisiana -- The University of Dallas men's cross country team continued their season with a balanced performance at the Nicholls XC Invitational, hosted by Nicholls State.

In a strong field of NCAA Division I squads, including nationally 9th ranked Alabama, the Crusaders took 17th place in a field of 20 teams, and topped our conference foe Centenary College. Dallas finished with a score of 305 in their 4 mile race. Notably, the top 17 athletes consisted heavily of Division I talent.

Alexander Bozhilov fueled Dallas competiting with top Division I athletes neck and neck, finishing in 11th place with a time of 20:11.07. Bozhilov shattered the previous school record of 21:16:00 set in 1979 by Matt Conrolly. Brennan McNamara who was battling illness, Theodore Conboy, Philip Pacific and Martin Lane weren't far behind as they exhibited perseverance and teamwork in the face of tough competition. All coming in at or under 31 minutes, McNamara in 24:17.16, Conboy in 26:11.81, Pacific in 27:02.01, and Lane in 30:15.47.  

Bringing it home for Dallas was Justin Yang (34:06.45).

Up next, the Crusaders will stay local, Dallas Baptist University "Old Glory" Invitational.  The meet is set to be held on Saturday, Oct. 5.
