Men's Cross Country Competes at DBU Old Glory Gallop

DALLAS, Texas - The University of Dallas men's cross country team competed in the Dallas Baptist University Old Glory Gallop on Saturday.  The field consisted of 28 teams, comprised of NCAA Division II and Division III programs.  The Crusaders finished in 25th place with 800 points, a total time of 2:30:52 and an average time of 30:10 in the men's 8k.  They finished 47 points ahead of Schreiner University, the only other SCAC program in the field.  

East Central University claimed the team and individual titles.  They finished with a total time of 1:59:32, taking six of the top seven spots.  Aspel Kiprob was the individual champion with a time of 23:42.3

Nico Walz lead the pack for UD, finishing in 201st in the field of nearly 300 runners.  He crushed his previous PR by nearly a minute, finishing with a time of 28:24.1.  Thomas Skendzel took 230th place, shaving nearly two and a half minutes off his previous PR, finishing in 29:11.2.

Bruce Reed ran the first 8k of his collegiate career, having missed out on the Texas Tech Open due to illness, and posted a time of 30:28.1.  James LaTour finished in 30:45.5, Paul Simko finished in 32:04.1, and Tim Kus sete a new PR with a time of 38:31.2.

The Crusaders are back in action next weekend at the Naimadu Classic hosted by Abilene Christian on Friday, Oct. 13.
