Crusaders Place Fourth in Season Opener

LONGVIEW, Texas - The University of Dallas men's cross country team competed in their season opening meet at the Nicole Leman Invitational, hosted by LeTourneau University.  The crusaders finished in fourth place out of five teams with a total score of 99 points with a field of 37 runners.  Nico Walz paced the team in the four mile race, finishing in 16th place with a final time of 25:04, a minute outside a top 10 finish.

Paul Simko, Tanish Garg, Caleb Clayton, and James LaTour all finished within a minute of each other in spots 25-28.  Andrew Kamp rounded out the pack with a time of 31:37.

"This is definitely a rebuilding year for us, with athletes graduating and studying abroad in our Rome program," said head coach Nick Schneigert.  "There were some ups and downs for this race, but overall I was impressed with our freshman who ran conservatively in this race.  I am looking forward to seeing how they grow from this race and the  years to come."

The Crusaders are back in action next Saturday at home, as they will host the University of Dallas Invitational.
