Men's Cross Country Has Record Setting Race to End Regular Season

ABILENE, Texas - The University of Dallas men's cross country team wrapped up the regular season with an outstanding performance in the Bill Libby Invitational.  The Crusaders finished in 6h place out of 12 competing schools with a total time of 2:24:25 and 149 points in the 8k race.  They finished above conference opponents, Schreiner, who came in 8th place with a final time of 2:30:14 and 201 points.

The race was a historic one for a number of reasons.  This was the first time in the history of the program that the top five runners finished the 8k in under 30 minutes.  the last time the Crusaders ran in this meet two years ago, only two runners finished in under 30 minutes.  Head coach Nick Schneigert was quite pleased at the progression, and attributes it to all the extra work being done by the athletes.  "Since I've been here, I've been very adamant about our cross country runners competing in track and field in the spring, as well as implementing a summer workout regimen.  It's clear that this has helped us trememndously in just the past year, it was a huge step forward for the program today," said Schneigert.

All five men set personal PR's today, including the Crusaders' number one, Thomas Lagarde, who crushed his previous record by six seconds with a final time of 27:22.0 to finish in eleventh place; he was five seconds from cracking the top 10.
