Crusaders Take First in UD Invitational

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas men's cross country team competed at home for the first time since hosting the SCAC Championship in February, hosting SAGU, Dallas Christian, and the University of the Southwest in the UD Invitational 5k.  The Crusaders won the meet with a team score of 28 points, with three runners in the Top 5 in the field of 15.

Thomas Lagarde took home the first place finish, beating Southwest's Guadalupe Garcia in an all-out sprint on the home stretch by just one tenth of a second; Lagarde finished with a time of 17:37.0, Garcia with a 17:37.1 time.  Luke LaCour finished in the 3rd spot with a time of 18:04, while Martin Nelligan rounded out the Top 5 with an 18:24 time.

Southwest finished in second place with a final score of 45 points, SAGU finishing with 47 points.  This Crusaders improved on their finish from the last UD Invitiational, taking second place in 2019.

The Crusaders will prepare for Roy Griak Invitational (8k) hosted by the University of Minnesota.  The race is set to take place on Friday, September 24th.
