DOWN MEMORY LANE: Thompson Qualifies for NAIA Cross Country Championship

IRVING, Texas - On November 5, 1988 Tony Thompson finished 12^th in the NAIA District 8 Championships with a time of 29:06 for the 8000 meter race and qualified for the NAIA Cross Country Championship in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He went on to run a 28:25 for the 8000 meters in the championship and a finish of 263^rd. Thompson is the only representative of men's cross country in the UD Athletics Hall of Fame and held the school record for 8000 meters with a time of 26.29 set at the Ouachita Baptist Invitational, 17 September 1988, until broken by Thomas Hogan with a 26.24 at the USCAA Championships in 2016.
