McAnany represents Men's Cross Country in South/Southeastern Regional Saturday

KERNSTOWN, Va. – Senior Ryan McAnany (Kansas City, Kan.) competed in the South/Southeast Regional on Saturday hosted by Shenandoah University. He was the lone member from the University of Dallas to compete, after qualifying for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) all-conference team with a sixth place finish about two weeks ago.

McAnany tied for 37th place out of 203 participants after running a time of 27:23 minutes in the 8K that morning. The senior capped his final race of his UD career by shattering his season personal record (PR) in this distance. His previous best was 27:39 at the Texas Division III Championship on October 3.

McAnany did participate in two regionals during his four-year career with the Crusaders. Last year in the South Regional, he posted a time of 26:49 but also matched a 37th place finish.

Lukas Mees from Emory University won the overall championship with a time of 25:46 minutes. Harrison Toney from Roanoke College and Victor Pataky from Centre College rounded out the top three with 25:55 and 25:58, respective finishes.

Emory would also win the team championship with a score of 35. Rhodes College notched second with a 106, and Washington Lee University took third with a 121.

McAnany paced the Dallas men's cross country team with the highest individual times on the Navy and White in all seven competitions this fall. His season PR in the 5K was a 16:19 minutes at the UTA Gerald Richey Cross Country Invite. He also is the record holder for the that same distance, which was set on Oct. 18, 2014, at the Austin College Invitational with a 16:07 mark.
