SCAC Championships Wrap Up in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The University of Dallas men's track and field team concluded two days of competition in the SCAC Championships on Sunday.  A total of 12 Crusaders competed in 12 events across Saturday and Sunday.

The Crusaders fielded eight athletes in the sprint events.  Jonathan Coxon and Samuel McLard ran the 100 meters, finishing in 13.35 and 14.82, respectively.  Coxon also ran the 200 meters, along with Harland Acker, DaShaun Merritt, Louis Christifano Jr., Aaron Pizana, and Uniikye Washington.  Acker led the way for Dallas with a PR of 23.51, with Merritt right behind at 23.57.  Acker also led the way in the 400 meters with a time of 52.71, followed by Merritt at 54.57 and Rory Henry at 1:00.86.  Henry also ran the 400 meter hurdles, posting a time of 1:11.19.

Caleb Clayton was the lone participant in the 800 meters and 1500 meters, finishing with PR's in both events, posting times of 2:15.40 and 4:59.10, respectively.  Nico Walz and James Latour took their usual slots in the 5000 and 10,000 meter races.  Walz posted a PR's in both events, posting times of 17:24.03 in the 5000 and 36:23.82 in the 10,000 meters.

The 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams also competed.  Acker, Coxon, Merritt, and Washington made up the 4x100 team, finishing with a time of 45.53.  Latour was swapped in for Washington on the 4x400 team, as they finished in 3:51.14.

Gabriel King was the lone thrower for the Crusaders this weekend.  He recorded a 9.24m mark in the shot put, and a 23.35m mark in the discus throw.
