Five Crusaders PR amidst windy conditions


Commerce, TX - The University of Dallas men's track and field team competed at the East Texas Invitational on Saturday.  Five Crusaders recorded personal records despite being battered by strong east Texas winds.  Harland Acker led the way for the Crusaders competing in the 200 meter dash, 400 meter dash, 4x400 meters relay.  Acker picked up his new PR in the 200m with a time of 23.56, and ran 52.24 in the 400m.

DeShaun Merritt also competed in the 200m, 400m, and 4x400m.  Merritt also earned a PR in the 200m with a time of 24.10, and running 53.80 in the 400m 

Chris Easterday rounded out the three event competitors for UD, participating in the 100m dash, 200m, 4x400m.  Easterday also PRed in the 200m finishing with a time of 24.76, and picking up a wind-assisted 11.83 in the 100m.

James Latour took a big leap forward in the 10,000 meter run, shattering his previous PR by over two minutes with a time of 37:27.50  Latour's previous PR was also on the same track and one day short of exactly one year apart.

Caleb Clayton participated in the 800 meters and the 1500 meter run, running times of 2:21.46 in the 800m and a PR of 5:02.66 in the 1500m.

Nico Walz ran in the 10,000m ending with a time of 39:35.97.

A sextet of Crusaders ran in the same heat of the 100m.  Jack Boyle ran 11.86, Aaron ran 12.93, Lou Christifano ran 13.03, Johnathan Coxon ran 13.35, Sam McLard ran 14.98, and TJ William's ran 14.98.  All times were wind-assisted.  Coxon and McLard also ran in the 200m.  Coxon finished with a time of 27.47w, and McLard ran 31.15w.

Rory Henry was the only member of the team not to compete in an individual event, competing only in the 4x400m.

Dallas will compete in their final regular season meet on Friday, April 15 at the Warhawk classic in Abilene, Texas.
