Men's Track and Field Competes at Dan Veach Invitational

MAGNOLIA, Ark. - The University of Dallas men's track and field team competed at the Southern Arkansas Universsity Dan Veach Invitational on Saturday.

A slew of Crusaders ran in the 100 meters, with Uniikye Washington leading the Dallas pack with a time of 11.81 for a 24th place finish.  Harland Acker and Lou Christifano were the next closes with times of 12.39 and 13.06, respectively.  Jack Boyle, Matt Hooloway, Jonathan Coxon, Max Lange, and Sam McLard all ran as well.  The same group, with the addition of DaShaun Merritt, also ran the 200 meters with Washington once again leading Dallas with a time of 24.40.  Merritt was right behind at 24.57, with Acker finishing next with a time of 24.80.

Dashaun Merritt was the lone Crusader in the 400 meters, posting a time of 54.04.  Caleb Clayton represented the Crusaders in the 800 meters, finishing in 2:31.53, and the 1500 meters, posting a time of 5:06.51.

The distance events were run in the afternoon; the conditions were perfect for the sprinters in the morning, but the peak afternoon sun made things difficult for the disatance runners.

Nico Walz and James Latour ran the 5000 meters; Walz ran it in 18:12.15, Latour was right behind at 18:16.81.  Rory Henry ran the 400 hurdles, finishing in 1:10.83.

The Crusaders ran two teams in the 4x400 relays.  Team A, comprisedof Merritt, Latour, Henry, and Clayton, finished in 4:04.51; Team B (Walz, Christifano, Holloway) finsihed in 4:24.84.

Dallas will be back in action next weekend at the Houston Alumni Invitational.
