Crusaders Look to Progress at Jet Relays

LANCASTER, Texas - The University of Dallas track and field teams will be competing in the Jet Relays tomorrow in Lancaster, Texas.

The meet is a unique feature on the Crusaders' schedule, as it will feature youth club athletes as well as college athletes, and it will primarily consist of relay events.  Local track and field meets in the Dallas-Fort Worth area are few and far between, so head coach Nick Schneigert was eager to jump at the chance.

Teams from all divisions and associations will be competing, include several NCAA Division I programs.

Coming off a win in the 10,000 meters, Anna Wilgenbusch will be a strong favorite in the 5,000 meters tomorrow.  She has an excellent chance at setting both the meet record and the school record in the event.  Grace Ebberwein will be looking to improve on her 22:00.84 finish in the 5,000 meters from last week, and Keila Juarez and Monica Voltin will be making their debuts in the event.

Juarez has seen significant improvements since donning the Crusader uniform.  Despite being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in high school, she has now reached greater heights and better times than she had before her diagnosis.

Freshman Caitlyn Smith will be looking to make a splash in her 100 meter debut, as she is currently ranked 19th in the nation in the 200 meters.

On the men's side, sophomores Nico Walz and James Latour will be competing in the 5,000 meters for the first time this season.  They will be looking to build off their second fastest 10,000 meter times posted last weekend.

Juniors Michael White and Sam Dixon join from the lacrosse program, and will both be competing in the shot put tomorrow.

A slew of new and dual sport athletes will be debuting in the 100 meters.  Freshmen Cayden DiSarro and TJ Williams, sophomores Chris Easterday and Louis Christifano Jr., junior Jonathan Coxon, and seniors Phil Ashton and Uniikye Washington will all be making their competitive debuts.  Veteran senior Sam McClard will also be competing in the 100 meters.
